I BELIEVE

For the last couple of years I have had these deep inner feelings that there is something more I need to do with my life. Something  significant, something important. These feelings will come and go, and toil with my soul, but I could not work out, what it is I’m meant to do.  I am living a normal life, sometimes I get angry, sometimes I talk before I think and get stressed out about silly things.  I have been collecting positive and uplifting thoughts for some time now, my desire is to do something good every day..something that will have a positive imprint on my life, and those around me. I am a working progress….all our journey’s begin with one small step……herewith some of the collections:-

I believe- that we don’t have to change friends, if we understand that friends change.

I believe- that no matter how good a friend is, they’re going to hurt you every once in a while, and you must forgive them for that.

I believe- that true friendship continues to grow, even over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I believe- that you can do something in an instant that will give you heartache for life.

I believe- that it’s taking me a long time to become the person I want to be.

I believe- that you should always leave loved ones with loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I believe- that you can keep going, long after you can’t.

I believe- that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.

I believe- that either you control your attitude, or it controls you.

I believe- that regardless of how hot and steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had better be something else to take its place.

I believe- that heroes are the people who do what has to be done, when it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I believe- that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I believe- that my best friend and I can do anything or nothing, and have the best time.

I believe- that sometimes the people you expect to kick you when you’re down, will be the ones to help you get back up.

I believe- that sometimes when I’m angry, I have the right to be angry, but that doesn’t give me the right to be cruel.

I believe- that just because someone doesn’t love you the way you want them to, doesn’t mean they don’t love you with all they have.

I believe- that maturity has more to do with what types of experiences you’ve had and what you’ve learned from them, and less to do with how many birthdays you’ve celebrated.

I believe- that it isn’t always enough to be forgiven by others. Sometimes you have to learn to forgive yourself.

I believe- that no matter how bad your heart is broken, the world doesn’t stop for your grief.

I believe- that our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.

I believe- that just because two people argue, it doesn’t mean they don’t love each other. And just because they don’t argue, it doesn’t mean they do.

I believe- that you shouldn’t be so eager to find out a secret. It could change your life forever.

I believe- that two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different.

I believe- that your life can be changed in a matter of hours by people who don’t even know you.

I believe- that when you think you have no more to give, when a friend cries out to you, you will find the strength to help.

I believe- that credentials on the wall do not make you a decent human being.

I believe- that the people you care about most in life, are taken from you too soon.

As an ex South African, I have the deepest respect and admiration for NELSON MANDELA…and one of his famous quotes soothes my soul.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves: who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are you NOT to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure about you. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” (Nelson Mandela)

  1. What you have written is so poignant. When we all get to a point of believing these things than maybe, just maybe the world will be a better place to dwell. In a world where so many are shallow it is refreshing to witness someone with mature thoughts and beliefs. I shall never forget Nelson Mandela’s quote. Thank you, Elaine.

  2. i believe you are becoming what you want to become right in this moment, in this post, quicker and more fully than you might imagine. i believe you are infected with the sing-song nature of the universe. i believe i am touched by the magical flow of your prose:)

  3. Thank you. Maybe YOU should be my “still small voice”! I too am searching for myself, especially after I had a heart attack and troubled surgery three years ago; thought that that would solidify my identity and my way – but it didn’t. Still groping along. Thank you for centering me a bit.

    • I appreciate you stopping by and commenting here on my blog ~ sometimes we need to remember what it’s all about. I send you warm wishes. Take care ~ Amanda

  5. Several of your quotes are really good. This one is one of the best: “I believe that we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel.” I also liked the one about the fact that the people we expect to hit us when we’re down are sometimes the same ones that help pick us up.

  20. Beautiful thoughts….all well said. And I love the Mandela quote. Have you read “Invictus” , a poem by William Ernest Henley? It is so beautiful, and when Mandela was in prison all those years, he read it each day to hold on to hope. I think you would love it… it brings me to tears. Heartspell
