LETTING GO

To “let go” does not mean to stop caring, it means I can’t do it for someone else.

To “let go” is not to cut myself off, it’s the realization I can’t control another.

To “let go” is not to enable, but to allow learning from natural consequences.

To “let go” is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands.

To “let go” is not to try to change or blame another, it is to make the most of myself.

To “let go” is not to care for, but to care about.

To “let go” is not to fix, but to be supportive.

To “let go” is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.

To “let go” is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect their own destinies.

To “let go” is not to be protective, it is to permit another to face reality.

To “let go” is not to deny, but to accept.

To “let go” is not to nag, scold or argue, but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.

To “let go” is not to adjust everything to my desires, but to take each day as it comes and cherish myself in it.

To “let go” is not to regret the past, but to grow and live for the future.

To “let go” is to fear less and love more.

  3. Ohhh hunny! This is being printed out and put right by light switch to my room. It is everything I need right now. I have to let go and you have given me the right perspective on how to do just that. You are beautiful because only someone with such beauty of understanding could create such a piece. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart I thank you. I am completely serious about putting it right by my light switch. Just a small reminder every time I enter and leave my room of what I need to accept and the mind set I should have when I leave my house. Love always!!

  10. lifeinarecipe Says:

Letting go is embracing the unknown. You have very nicely penned a verse of opposites. Negative, positive. Dark, light. As always your wise words touch us.

Thanks for liking it my friend and I hope your week is FANTABULOUS also!!! Mwhazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz and Hugsssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!! Always xxxx

  23. Short. Sweet. Wise.

Something to post on the bulletin board or to frame and hang … a little reminder of good sense.

Thanks for your post, Amanda! Happy Monday … Have a great week.

  24. I agree with Jamie. This should be framed and placed on the wall as a daily reminder. Letting go is hard to do. But when we do, we acknowledge that there are things that are beyond our control and, I believe, in the hands of God. Understanding and accepting it is liberating beyond imagination.
Loved your piece Amanda! I’ve been away, but it has nothing to do with my admiration for your work. Life has just been a wee bit crazy this past few weeks. Hope to return more often.

Kudos to you on the ‘letting go’! 🙂

  25. I really like this poem. It’s repetitive without being boring, follows a structure without being restrained by it, and has a message that everyone can relate to. Made my night! (Favorite line: To “let go” is to fear less and love more.)
