POKER FACE

White hot

sharp words

offensive

devastating

a scalpel

in the hands

of a layman

no place

to hide

no barrier

no wall

no defence

just hurt

and blood

and tears

afterwards

the blame

a few scars

remembering

 the fight

in the end

there are

NO WINNERS

  1. So true. Clear and powerful post. – Bill

  2. Sharp word can cut our heart in two and can never be taken back….yes, we all lose. Very well said. This one sounds so close, it hurts. 😦 Hugs to you. Heartspell

  3. simple but smart words.
    😉

  4. Nicely done. This is very similar to my style and is very easy for me to enjoy!

This fills me with crazy images of people being hacked and sliced apart with surgical tools! Love it! 🙂

  5. You are tooooo cool 8) 😎

  6. Beautifully expressed.

The photo with the words and the song all play together for drama and suspense! Very different! Thank you for sharing and have a beautiful day across the ocean.. ooxx

  8. mairmusic Says:

No, the fight to the end w/out sympathy never results in a win. And have I ever mentioned how amazing your accompanying photos are always, and especially this one. congrats!

  9. Very poignant and so very true. It was a lesson that I struggled with learning when I was very young – some people, no matter how much you’d wish they’d be able to see or understand, never will. Agruments as such would only cause harm.

  10. WOW! This is a powerful poem/post!

The power of our words are oft forgotten, but with them we can wound or we can heal. I am grateful for this beautifully written reminder. 🙂

  11. Agreed. No winners at all. Just folks who should have known better. 😉

  12. Seriously, fights (and meetings :)) are the most useless ever!!
After fights, there is never a definite solution – as we can very well see in this world today, what with the wars and all.
The same is the case with meetings too – no solution 🙂

Tussles result from usually nothing, and end too in nothing but misery.. 😦
Such a deep and poignant message, Amanda…yet again!!!
Come to think of it, the visual of your poem also looks like a knife of some kind…
    Beautifully done!!!
    Keep up the awesomeness, sweetheart….
Take care, and relax… you are working too hard nowadays… 🙂 I hope you also had the yummy dessert you just posted … you deserve it!! 🙂 And pass some to me tooooo… YUMMMMYYYY
    Loadsa hugs!!!

    • Wish I could send some my dear…this was just fiction but you’re right, I also don’t like conflict and fights…totally a waste of time and in the end only leaves you with hurt. I know I am tooooo busy lately but this time of year it’s always a busy time for me. Soon I will see the light again and spend more time here. I miss it and try my best to read as much as possible…it’s almost weekend Yeahhhhhhhhhh….sweet dreams dear one!! Loadsa love and hugs xx

  13. Well done, your brevity of words brings across the brutality nicely.

  16. A BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOUR SON!!! :d

  17. ooooooooooo 😦 strong words

    great feel

  18. Your words echo so much truth. There are no winners at the end of a fight. Both sides feel pain at the end of it all. Great poem as always!

Happy belated birthday to your son!

I do like this minimal poems, a girl after my own heart! The point gets across very well, Amanda. Hugs.
    Oh, and great piccy!

  20. This is filled with such visceral emotion that it gives me pause, and brings a shudder to my heart. Bravo, for writing pure and true…often not an easy thing. I’m proud of you for going deep. Well done.

  21. Fantastic! I love how you write so simple but make each word count 🙂

  22. Wow – this is such a great poem Amanda – with such a strong message – there really are no winners when people fight with a barrage of words and abuse. The only thing left is scars and bad memories. Wonderful poem, and very well crafted. Chloe xx

  23. these are indeed sharp words, and the minimalistic style suits the cutting nature of the piece. well done.

  24. lifeinarecipe Says:
