Mr. Nailgun

As the neighbourhood I live in is relatively new,  I always knew that someone would eventually start building a house on the block of land right next door.  So in September of last year, after a wonderful relaxing holiday in South Africa,  I came back and found preparations in full swung!!  These days it takes about 4 to 5 months for a house to be completed….taking into consideration the weather conditions or how big the project is, of course!  What I did not know at the time, is that my new neighbour would be building his house ALONE…..totally and painfully alone!!

So this blog is dedicated to you Mr. Nailgun.  I have the utmost respect for anyone trying to take on such a big project like you have.  I have been very friendly, even offered you a cold beer on a Friday afternoon when I saw you smultering in the heat of the summer (which you have refused), I have invited you to a neighbourhood get together so we could get aquainted, which you also refused!!  What you most propably don’t get is the following:-

My business is run from home……working hours sometimes starts at 7am, right through to after 5pm every day of the week.   I have been very patient, even when I have to go to different places in my house, to be able to have a normal conversation with someone on the phone…because I can’t work in the office where you hammer away every bloody minute of the day.  I am keeping my mouth shut as I have to clean the sawdust out of the pool and around the house for the last couple of months.  I am not complaining when you start at 6.30am, six days a week (even on a Saturday when I might want a bit of a sleep in)….I am polite when a truck blocks my driveway and I have to go somewhere, sometimes waiting for another hour before I can leave.  I am not saying a word about the mess in front of your house (right next to me) as you gather all the empty McDonald’s and bottles (which has not been cleared from last September) I am not complaining about the long grass that creeps through the fence on my side….which is totally overgrowing your place.  I am patiently burning Citronella Candles, because the mosquito’s are driving me crazy due to the standing water in your half finished pool!!!!  I was nice enough when you poured concrete all over my sideway……which would have been a disaster if I did not notice it in time!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just overheard from a trusted neighbour (who feels excatly the same way I do) that your “project” will only be finished in another 18 months time.  You have had no consideration or regret about any of this….all you do is nail and saw every bloody day….endlessly!!!!   Do you for one minute think this is the way to build a good neighbour relationship?   I am so over you Mr. Nailgun….I can’t even begin to tell you just how much!!!

Maybe someone should send you a copy of this!!!!!!

What you read is what I feel...

How I write, is mine...How you read, is yours

Most of us feel it, some don't. Some of us say it, some don't. Some may agree, some won't. Be as it may, the facts still remain.
