After a While…
They say you’re never too old too learn..all of life’s happiness begins with a decision. We are far more powerful than we realize and we also create everything that happens in our own lives. Once we fully acknowledge this , and take responsibility for it , we can do anything that we set our minds to. We are the author of our own lives , and we can choose to take it in any direction we wish. I love to read about building our lives for the better and have read all of Dr. Wayne W Dyer’s books and literature. It is the most uplifting and spiritual journey towards a better you and am sharing an extract that truly stuck in my mind and has helped me so much. It is called “After a while” by Veronica Shoffstall.
After a while you learn
the subtle difference between holding a hand and changing a soul
and you learn
that love doesn’t mean leaning
and company doesn’t always mean security.
And you learn
that kisses aren’t contracts and presents aren’t promises
and you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead
with the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child
and you learn
to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns if you get too much
so you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure
you really are strong
you really have worth
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye , you learn…

We truly must take responsibility for our own happiness. No individual can supply all of the needs of another. We must live and let live in this world. You give of yourself to others without demanding return. God will bless your richly. Thank you for sharing. The image is lovely, Amanda.

Is that not such a true fact of life…no-one else can do it for us! Thanks gorgeous girl….I hope you have a brilliant week ahead!!! oxoxox
August 2, 2010 at 10:59 am
So true, Amanda! With every (and I mean EACH AND EVERY) experience, there is something to learn… how we learn it, how we perceive it, and what we make out of that learning – it’s ours! How we shape it – is also ours!
Everything has a good and evil to it… making it good or making it evil is upto us. If we get bogged down by treacherous tides and murky waters, we will mold it into something vile possibly… but if we see with a neutral eye, we could be the best potters in the world!
Thanks for sharing such lovely thoughts with us, Amanda…
You sure KNOW how to lift our spirits, and make us look into ourselves and rediscover the I in us… cuz it’s that I that can make many WEs and US… and with that US, the world automatically becomes a much better place to live in…
Many hugs to you, sweetheart, for such an inspiring post!!!

And I want to point out that you have that same attitude and special gift to do that wherever you go…I see where you go and what you mean to so many here. It is invaluable Kavita and I am not just saying that to be nice. I see what you do here and it is a wonderful thing…you are a warmhearted loving soul that spreads love and good wherever you go!! Never ever doubt anything you do in life!! I am so very happy to have met you and want you in my life forever!! Your life will be blessed because of who you are! I thank you for that….from my heart….but…most of all….I LOVE YOU DEAR FRIEND oxoxoxoxox

An excellent post, Amanda. However, I don’t like the goodbyes…never have, they usually hurt, and they always deal with the past, but you do indeed learn from them. Hellos are better. They’re all about the future and possibilities. One of these days one might have a hello that doesn’t end in goodbye…just saying, it could happen.

“all of life’s happiness begins with a decision. We are far more powerful than we realize and we also create everything that happens in our own lives”
I truly believe this Amanda- the decisions we make create our story. And we are powerful enough to determine the direction of our lives. Thank you for reminding this once again 🙂 And thank you for sharing that lovely poem;
“you learn
to build all your roads on today because tomorrow’s ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.”
Very inspiring, true words…

I think in another life, you were a motivational coach. Or have you considered writing a motivational book? Everything you write oozes optimism and positivity..you truly appreciate the beauty in life and seem to constantly strive to better yourself. More people should be like you Amanda!
I think the image you have used with this post is definately my favourite so far…the butterfly really helps convey the strong messages of your post…learning and new beginnings.
Have a lovely day 🙂 xx

This is 5 star Poetry. I think the best I’ve read from you. It touched my soul, held its hands and danced with it leaving me with a smile, knowing that at least in an ignorant world, we have brains and you are one of them. I so love this. Write on, dear one.
Have a super August and a wonderful week.
Super Cheers!

This is a beautiful inspirational message for all of us and thank you, Amanda for sharing it with us. Sorry I’ve been away for a few days…am now catching up. I, too, love what I’ve read and seen from Wayne Dyer. Does this Veronica Shoffstall have a book? Happy Day, dear friend. heartspell
August 4, 2010 at 7:20 am
I’ve missed you birthday girl…Veronica Shoffstall writes poems and does not have a book that I know of but Wayne Dyer uses her quotes and poetry quite often, which I just love! I hope you get spoilt heaps and that you’ll have the best day my friend. Happy to see you here again. Lots of love and extra hugs and kisses on your special day xxx
