Writers Block??

Taking the challenge that Cindy Taylor, The Only Cin – “SUNDAY AND NOT MUCH TO SAY”   offered about a week ago– feel free to do the same…it’s great fun!! (Questionnaire in Vanity Fair)

What is your current state of mind?
Slightly relaxed as it is late Friday afternoon, almost time to shut office…awaiting the weekend.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Perfect happiness to me is very much a state of mind, connected towards attitude to life. Being healthy, time with my family and friends and pottering around my house and kitchen.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?
My two beautiful children.

What is the quality you most like in a man?
Humour, sincerity and a love for life. Someone I can trust unconditionally…someone I can call my best friend.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?
A woman who loves and accepts herself for what she is, independent, embracing life and proud to be a woman.

Which living person do you most admire?
Sir Richard Branson

What is your greatest extravagance?
Shoes, shoes and shoes. (Oh, and good food)

When and where are you happiest?
The times I can relax outside on the veranda after a long day, sipping a Sauvignon Blanc …watching the sun go down, in my kitchen and walking in the morning.

On what occasion do you lie?
When it might hurt someone’s feelings.

What is your greatest fear?
To be bedridden and a burden to someone.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
The need for everything to be perfect all of the time.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?
Dishonesty.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
Being able to relax more, not wanting to change the world in one day!

What is your greatest regret?
I have never thought about this one and will have to answer none. I think everything in life happens for a reason and we have to learn from it.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?
I have no bloody idea!!

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Being the mother of 2 wonderful human beings…of which I’m very proud of….and the rest is yet to be explored and achieved.

THIS SONG IS VERY SPECIAL TO ME…IT’S ME AND MY DAUGHTERS SONG!!

  6. Amanda, I feel like I know you better after reading that. You are a sweet, kind person, but I knew that before. I listened to the yours and your daughter’s favorite song. I like it. It brings back memories. I have a daughter and a son. There is a special bond between mother and daughter and between mother and son. Mothers and daughters become lifelong friends. Thank you for sharing your personal world with us.

  10. hard to change to fit,
    simply being oneself is great.
    😉
    very fun post.

    • Happy you liked the post, sometimes it’s hard to write a poem every day. Being oneself is the only way to be and we learn that along the path of life!! I am blessed and thankful for health, good spirits and above all, happy to be alive!! And having you in our lives, makes me smile and fills my soul. Thanks Jingle. oxoxox

  11. “Humour, sincerity and a love for life. Someone I can trust unconditionally…someone I can call my best friend.”
Oh my, Amanda, you described my dream man! I hope someday I’ll find him… Or better yet, he’ll find me 🙂

    • He will find you sooner than you think Lua, how can someone with a good heart like yours, be alone!! It will happen when you least expect it! My wish for you is that it will happen soon. In the meantime, keep writing….you are a light in my life and I always look forward to your next writing. Sending you much love my gorgeous girlfriend xxxx

  12. lifeinarecipe Says:

You opened the door for us today…thanks for letting us peek inside! Have a wonderful weekend!

    • I thought about that one for a while….not easy to do!! But when writers block steps in, one has to find another avenue!! Have a great weekend my dear friend. I will come over soon, so far behind!! Much love xxx

  13. We are scared of writer’s block like a dying person afraid to close his eyes afraid not wake up again. So we do many things, use many techniques to over-come the dreaded writers block because as writers, writing is like breathing and we feel alive everytime we have written something until we write the next piece again – but fears come in between.

The Q&E is one of the many tools we could use like the foot path in marshes we could step on to reach the safety of the dry land and the flow of our thoughts in writing become staedy again.

For myself, I find a word, or an image, or an idea in my current writing that would lead my thoughts in the next. It works effectively because my writing leads me to the next – I would be ready for the next cooking while I am still cooking.

We don’t really have to fear writer’s block – it’s part of the cycle. Like an open field between forests. Like the seem unending desert between oasis – it is needed also to add the needed elements to our writings. We inhale, we exhale.

    Thanks for your birthday greeting.

    I wish you well.

    ~ Jeques

    • My dear friend, you have summed it up so very well….I have to step out of my comfort zone many times to clear my mind and take in nature and all it has to offer. From that springs fresh ideas and food for my soul. Your words are always so comforting and I appreciate your invaluable comments more than words can say. I often think about you and always look forward to your next posting! Have a happy weekend my friend and take care ~ Amanda x

  14. What a sweet post, nice to read and learn more about you. Lovely lady, you have beautiful thoughts. My two children are my joy as well. A living reflection, they grow we grow along with them. As Jackie Kennedy once said fail your children then you fail for nothing else really matters as much as raising them right.

Have a wonderful week end and thanks for sharing.

    Joanny

    • I love Jacky Kennedy and love what she stood for, especially her children!! We are blessed to have wonderful children and I am thankful for that every single day. Mine are adults now with their own lives, but the bond just grows stronger. Thanks Joanny, you make me happy and I always enjoy your comments so very much. Have a wonderful weekend my dear friend xxx

  15. Like everyone else here, I really enjoyed reading and getting to know you better. Nothing surprised me – your spirit rings true through your blog, so I just kept nodding my head, yes, that’s her alright!

I loved your answer to what you look for in a man. Particularly the humor. My husband had the other qualities, but not the humor and I have often thought that if the humor was there, we might have survived longer than the 25 years we struggled through, and we’d have enjoyed them so much more! My current sweetheart has a wonderful sense of humor. I can forgive him for just about anything when he makes me laugh, which he does several times a day. Not that he needs forgiveness – he’s just what I said, a sweet heart.

Looks like you are too. Lucky us, we all get to know you.

    • Dear Cindy, I am so happy that you have a wonderful sweetheart in your life…when love comes around again and you have the humour….what a blessing. Laughter in our lives means everything, in todays race we need to stop and smell the roses!! Thanks so much for your invaluable comments….I am happy to call you friend. Have a great weekend gorgeous Lady and keep smiling ~ Much love xx

  16. I loved your answers, Amanda. You seem to have an honest and frank view of yourself which is refreshing to see in a person. And based on the miles of stuff I’ve read here so far, I find it difficult to believe that you’d ever get writer’s block! Good heavens! 😛

  17. ……love the music……and we share the shoe interest…..Iown 30 pairs….not bad for an oke hey…..

  18. Great song to share with you daughter!!!

  19. You did a fine job with this. I may have to play with it too.

If we have children, there’s nothing better is there? Greatest blessing. Greatest good fortune. Greatest joy. Very best life experience.

Sweet that you and your daughter have a song you share.

And, thanks for sharing your thoughts with us, Amanda. Always valued.

    Hugs and Hearts,
    Jamie

    • Jamie, and WHAT a visit from you….5 comments!!! I so appreciate it and instead of answering them all, I will send you ONE BIG thank you…from the heart!!! I am sorry for my absence lately…just not enough hours in the day and don’t think I’ll ever catch up again!! (Don’t know how Ji does it phewwww!!) Wishing you a wonderful week girlfriend and keep smiling xxxx
